Windows 7 installer doesn't recognise the hard drive on my new system - custom install.

I have tried to install Windows 7 on my new system from scratch (it has no OS at present), but it doesn't see any hard drives. My Seagate SATAII drive is recognised in the bios though. I've installed all the SATA drivers, but no joy. Any ideas?

Is your drive connected to the standard SATA-II ports and not a port controlled by a RAID chip?

Hard drive Testing - Bootable CD:
If you have a new Seagate hard drive the very next thing would be to download Seagate's Seatools (the bootable CD) and check for bad sectors:
